Well, the election results are in and I can't say I'm entirely surprised. I'm not sure what to think about it all yet, but I can't escape the feeling that none of it will affect my day to day life. I still have to wake up, work, eat, sleep and have fun. My biggest fear is how close Canada will become tied to the United States because in my opinion, we are too close already (and I'm not talking about geography). But I'm no expert on any of that so I'll just stop talking now. Here are some maps that I found somewhat buried on the Elections Canada site:

To celebrate International Car Free Day, I rode to work today. Hamilton to North York in about 4 hours total. It doesn't sound too fast, but it's pretty decent as far as I'm concerned. Around Oakville, I started thinking that I would not make it. Stopping in Etobicoke for lunch helped my get some motivation back, and then a quick stop to see Hilary at the Yorkville Starbucks gave me the final wind. The final stats are:
- Total Distance: 86.2 km
- Rolling Time: 3h 18m
- Average Speed: 26.0 km/h
A decent tailwind helped me keep my average speed above my goal of 25 km/h, and I was averaging close to 30 km/h until I hit Mississauga and started getting a bit tired. The hills I encountered heading Northbound from the lake to the 401 (where I work) also did a number on bringing the average down to its final resting place.
The only really bad part was when I got smoked by a car in Burlington. Some lady was turning right without signalling and turned right into me. I mean... I came in contact with her car. I yelled and she stopped and I brushed along the side of her front door and front fender and continued around her car. Pretty lucky for both of us that she stopped just in time. Unfortunately I didn't damage her car. It's really too bad. I think, however, that I scared the living shit out of her so that's good. I'm pretty sure she will never turn without checking her mirror again!
