Curent Employment
I am currently working as an Engineering Associate at Rogers Cable. What this means is that I am a junior level engineer (engineering grad who has only been working for a few years). My two-year anniversary with Rogers happens in July.
At Rogers, I work with the digital cable platform. The majority of my work has to do with applications that run on the set-top box. The coolest one right now is VOD (Video On Demand), which lets you play / pause / rewind / fast-forward movies in real time. You can select from a list of titles and they will stream right to your cable box. Other applications include WebTV (surf the net on your TV through the cable box) and Wink (extra info that pops up as an overlay on the channel you are watching). Testing includes usability, functionality, and memory/hardware compatibility. I also test any new set-top-box OS releases.
On The Side
I also work with my buddy Chips on a side-business which focuses on computer and networking installation. We go on-site to homes and small businesses and perform installations and repairs. We go by the name RelyOn.
